With Aplogies to Alberto Vargas ......

Picked up the book 'Alberto Vargas- works from the Max Vargas Collection' over the holidays, and haven't been able to put it down. Vargas's work is both inspiring and terribly humbling. Did this piece as part homage , and partly an excercise to try something new.

Overall I'm fairly pleased with the end result , though I find myself having issues with the quality of some of the linework.

You did all the drawing on the blog?
by hand and on the computer....wow!
I love your work, i wish i could design like that.

I could see this one framed and on my wall, very nice!!

You totally nailed the colors and "look" of Vargas.. Using a Jane Russell -type model, helps too!
I leafed thru that book at 'Beguiling' on Wednesday night, but didn't pick it up. I have too many books on PinUp & Vargas, as it is.. Though the repros looked stellar, I have to say!

This is really cool Dominic. I'm amazed by how delicate your line work is, it gives the finished painting such a wonderful finished look.

really nice and CLEAN line. You got the pose reading really well. Muted colours work well with it too. Nice one!

5 hours is pretty damn fast....I like this one. The pencil makes it feel a little less slick which is nice

marco - thanks man

josh - glad ya liked it, it was a challenge to it 'clean' , a la Vargas , but not too clean , if that makes any sense.

Nice job, though she reminds me a bit of a Bolles girl. My friend, Reid Austin wrote the Vargas book. Sadly he did just a week before it was published but he got to see the galleys. Glad you enjoyed it.
