This was to have been the cover to the travel section of the Globe And Mail , but alas the writer never made the story happen . The article was about how airlines were offsetting the lack of in-flight perks with training their employees to be more humorous and entertaining. No worries , I was paid all the same ;)

A piece I threw together for a friend's ( Chris Gabel ) music project. He classifies it as 21st century Classical. This is to be a cover for a DVD pkg.

New York Times :: Secrets Of Endurance - Eating To Go

This piece ran yesterday in the Times 'Style' section. The article addressed the need to manage your calorie & liquid intake when competing in such events as , the Iron Man and Triathalon sports. The editors wanted something literal , but with a humorous twist. An enjoyable piece to do.

RITA :: Adventures of a Groupie

These are a series of comic strips I did for Gasoline Magazine . A great music mag published by Daryl , the owner of the 'Bovine Sex Club' here in Toronto , arguably , the best Rock'N Roll club in the city.

Coming up with the 'gag' was always more challenging than drawing the strips. They were a lot of fun to do , and gave me an opportunity to play around.

WSJ :: MobileTV

A recent piece for the Wall Street Journal about getting a television broadcast signal on your phone. It was tricky trying to convey within the illo that all the characters were watching the same show.( hence the insert bubble ) Add to the mix that the screen on the phone would be small , it presented quite a challenge. Enjoy!

DOSE :: today's cover

Got the call to do this one with a 'same day' turnaround . Such is the nature of a daily publication. I believe this is my 5th cover for DOSE. They're always a challenge , and given the time constraints, a great way to hone my 'chops' . The cover story was riffing on Ripley's Believe It Or Not. Enjoy!

Holmes On Homes :: Ad Campaign

The following was an illo used for a national campaign for the television show , Holmes On Homes. I still see it being used for commercials on tv, though originally it was a billboard / print ad. Definitely a fun gig to have worked on. There was also supposed to be a comic promo , but alas that was not to be.

New York Times :: Power Plate

Did this piece for the Times , about an excercise machine that you essentially just 'stand' on , and it vibrates and somehow strengthens your muscles. If only it was that easy.

Phoenix New Times - Murder City pt 4

My latest piece in an ongoing series of crime stories .The story was about a young woman whose body was found in a hotel tub.The challenge here was to stay true to the crime scene while still giving a 'face' to the victim. Also, not making it too gruesome.

Homemakers Magazine - Anger

These are a coupla pieces I did for Homemakers Magazine. The article addressed the issue of coping with everyday events that potentially lead to 'loosin it'.


Anytime ya get to draw a lady with a 'Betty Page' hairstyle, is always a bonus. I Initially had the classic black hair but was asked to make her a redhead to play off the emotion.


The office characters are very much inspired by Dan De Carlo and Don Flowers gag cartoons from the fifities. Enjoy!

Drawing The Line Vol 2 :: my contribution

Drawing The Line , is a comic anthology published by a great bloke , Suley Fattah , where all the proceeds go to cancer research.

Volume 1 featured the likes of Moebius , Stan Sakai, Chester Brown, Dave Sim and Stuart Immonen to name a few.

Volume 2 goes to the printers soon , and has all the hallmarks of a great follow up .

Phoenix New Times - Murder City Series

This is my third in an on-going series of covers for the Phoenix New Times illustrating stories from the homicide reporter's beat. They're some of the most interesting pieces I get to do .

My initial rough sketch and inked drawing.



The final version. Regarding the surface treatments , and the tonal rendering , it's a bit of a departure for me.



Finished up this piece early , so I went back and started playing with some of the elements and came up with another version which was more graphic , and flat, with a tip of the hat to those 50's trashy crime novels. Enjoy!

Grand Tour 2006

Late last year I got a great opportunity to illustrate a poster for a wine tasting tour of five major American cities. The tour is hosted by Frederick Wildman & Sons, one of the biggest winemakers in the U.S. After a coupla rounds of roughs, a comic style narrative was selected for the poster.
Last week I received my copies of the poster and the accompanying invites and tasting brochures. I'm really happy with the final result.




Iris Brown , in N.Y.C , was the designer , and I think she did a great job of staying true to the spirit of the poster throughout the additional material. Working with a good designer is always a perk.

NUVO Magazine Spring 2006

Had fun doing this piece.Should be on the newstands soon.

The crux of the article was the writer reflecting on the television heroes of his youth and how modern 'stars' seem to pale in comparison.

A recent series of illos done for Style Mag outta Baltimore. Been looking at a lot of japanese woodblock artists lately and I think it's rubbing off.
